POLICE said on Thursday that they believe that Kjetil Moe, a Norwegian industrialist who went missing in Johannesburg in September, has been killed. Moe, 65, disappeared from a hotel near Johannesburg International Airport on September 27 and police suspect he was involved in multi-million dollar scams run by a West African syndicate. “Investigations … indicate beyond reasonable doubt that Moe was involved in the so-called 419 and black dollar scams as documentation to this effect was found in his hotel room,” Wilken said. This year four businessmen were kidnapped by letter scam syndicates operating in South Africa, and police initially believed that the same fate had befallen Moe.
