FIVE young people were shot and hacked to death in a clash between rival gangs in Amshayazafe township in KwaZulu-Natal, police said on Wednesday. Police spokesman Captain Vishnu Naidoo said the bodies of the victims, a woman and four men aged between 15 and 20, were found outside a shop in the township, some 50 kilometres outside the east coast town of Durban after the incident late on Tuesday. “Some of them were shot, some were hacked to death and one person was shot and hacked,” he said. “It appears to have been a fight between two rival gangs. It was definitely not politically motivated,” he said.
