TWO long distance drivers were shot in separate attacks outside Pietersburg in Northern Province on Monday night, in what police believe may be a repeat of similar attacks made on passenger vehicles last year. Police said on Tuesday that the occupant of a white Uno with no registration plates opened fire with a shotgun on a taxi driver and 20 minutes later attacked a truck driver. He said the taxi was carrying one passenger while travelling along the Pietersburg/Zebediela road when he was shot at. A short while later, a long distance trucker transporting tomatoes along the Pietersburg/Tzaneen road was shot. The taxi driver and the passenger were treated for injuries in hospital and released. The truck driver, who was carrying a passenger, is also in a stable condition in hospital. Police said they suspect the attacker might be the same person who shot at a bus and a taxi last year.
