PROVINCIAL ANC Youth League organiser in Mpumalanga Alfred Thumbathi has been formally charged with 33 fraud and theft charges on Monday totalling over R900000. The charges are linked to those against sacked ANC Youth League secretary James Nkambule, suspended Mpumalanga Parks Board chief Alan Gray and MPB contract accountant Maxi Green. Nkambule, Gray and Green were all arrested during dawn police raids on Friday and were released on bail of between R10000 and R25000 each on a total of 48 fraud and 27 theft charges involving R2,3-million. Thumbathi was not asked to plead when he appeared briefly before the Nelspruit Regional Court on Monday and was released on R7500 bail when the case was remanded to December 15.
