OWN CORRESPONDENT, Johannesburg | Thursday 12.00pm.
SUNDOWNS notched up their 11th win from 13 games in the Castle Premiership with a 1-0 victory over AmaZulu at King’s Park Stadium in Durban on Wednesday night.
The only goal of the game came just before half time from a long clearance by Lovers Mohlala that found Daniel Mudau unmarked in no-man’s land deep in AmaZulu territory.
Sundowns has stretched their lead to seven points clear of nearest rivals Classic, with three games in hand.
Despite the victory, Sundowns didn’t impress. They threatened to take control early in the game, but failed to capitalise on good midfield play by Joel Masilela, Mohlala, Isaac Shai and Mudau.
Half-hearted finishing by Alain Amougou and Roger Feutmba kept AmaZulu in the game.
Delamogo shone in the AmaZulu goals, dealing capably with the few shots on target from Shai, Omugu and Feutmba. In stark contrast John Tlale in the Sundowns goals had a quiet time.
