A NEW, 20-member, round-the-clock tourist protection police unit was launched in the Western Cape on Tuesday. The unit is tasked with protecting tourists in the CBD and other popular areas of the Cape Peninsula, and forms part of the Community Patrol Officers system. A white sleeve over the normal police uniform will make officers of the new unit easily identifiable.
