WINDS OF CHANGE SWEEP UK

A NEW wine range called “Winds of Change” has been launched in London by a group of Paarl farm workers. The wine, a pinotage cabernet blend, is unique in the sense that it was produced on the Sonop farm in Paarl, near Cape Town, of which nine farm worker households earlier in the year acquired 10 hectares. The purchase price is partially funded by the Department of Land Affairs’ Land Acquisition grant of $2500 per household. For every case of wine sold in the UK, one will go to the Sonop community. According the current contract between Sonop and UK distribution agency Western Wines, approximately 60000 cases will be distributed in the United Kingdom.
