SOUTH African Wayne Ferreira claimed the eighth and last place in next month’s Kooyong Classic, the leadup event to the Australian Open tennis in Melbourne.
Ferreira, ranked 53 in the world, joins world number one Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Mark Philippoussis, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Thomas Enqvist, Nicolas Kiefer and Richard Krajicek in the round robin tournament.
The Kooyong Classic is played on the Rebound Ace hardcourt from January 12-15.
The Australian Open, the year’s first grand slam tournament, begins at Melbourne Park on January 17.
