MBEKI IN MOZ FOR THE WEEKEND

PRESIDENT Thabo Mbeki, Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Nkosazana Zuma and Home Affairs Minister Mangosuthu Buthelezi will pay a two-day visit to Mozambique this weekend, the president’s office said. They will attend the inauguration of Mozambican President Joachim Chissano in Maputo on Saturday. Mbeki also plans to attend Sunday’s meeting of Southern African Development Community heads of government. It is expected that the leaders will discuss regional questions, including the conflict in Angola and the Great Lakes region. The heads of government are also expected to discuss trade issues, especially following delays in the implementation of the SADC trade protocol which was supposed to have been in place on January 1.
