ANGRY demonstrators demanded the return of the death penalty outside the Port Alfred Magistrate’s Court when two brothers appeared in connection with the murder of Brenda Fairhead and her daughter, Kia. Bongani and Zolani Tom, 21 and 22, were not asked to plead and they refused the services of a lawyer. They will remain in custody at the Grahamstown Prison until their next appearance on February 2. A minor who appeared in court earlier this week in connection with the murders will appear in court with them. Protesters tried to block the gateway to the court with a bakkie when the car transporting the Tom brothers left the premises. Mrs Fairhead and her daughter, 11, were strangled and dumped in a ravine last Sunday.
