VIRGIN Atlantic Airways has been forced to suspend its heavily booked second weekly flight between Cape Town and London because of an appeal by British Airways (BA) to the British civil aviation authorities, according to the Business Report. Until the matter is resolved, the British civil aviation authorities have forbidden Virgin to introduce its second weekly nonstop flight to Cape Town. Last year Virgin said it expects to lose millions if it is only allowed a single direct flight to Cape Town. The second flight was to have started on Saturday this week. The transport department last December refused permission for BA, which has six weekly flights to Cape Town, to introduce a seventh and provide a daily service.
