CHAUKE’S LOVER PLEADS NOT GUILTY

DUDU Nkosi, the lover of alleged cash-heist kingpin, Collin Chauke, pleaded not guilty in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Wednesday to defeating the ends of justice and to seven of 10 fraud charges against her. Nkosi told the court she was convinced Chauke was Max Shirhami Zikhale and that she had no reason to doubt this, as his passport was made out in that name. Nkosi pleaded guilty to three fraud charges, admitting she used a false identity book to open accounts at three chain stores. The court changed her pleas to not guilty, however, because she said she paid the accounts and did not intend to renege on payments. Nkosi has spent the past 10 months in jail awaiting trial and is defending herself as each of her lawyers have withdrawn over the past year because she failed to pay them.
