OWN CORRESPONDENT, Kumasi | Thursday 12.20pm.
AFTER Bafana Bafana 1-1 draw with Algeria on Wednesday night, coach Trott Molotto said his team “will go for the kill” against Ghana on Sunday.
“You know we are already in the knockout stages. We are definitely going for the kill against the Black Stars,” Molotto said at a post-match briefing in Kumasi.
He said he would make some changes in the squad that beat Gabon 3-0, Democratic Republic of Congo 1-0 and drew 1-1 with Algeria to meet Ghana in the quarter-finals.
The match will be played at the 50000-capacity Asokwa stadium where the coach said he was happy to remain. South Africa finished atop Group B while Ghana came second in Group A.
“A lot of changes will be introduced to keep pace with the crucial nature of the next stage of the competition,” Molotto said of the encounter with the Black Stars.
Team captain Lucas Rabede expressed satisfaction with the match.
“I give kudos to everyone for a job well done,” he said.
He said his side were already looking forward to the Ghanaian match. “We will play them to a stand still on Sunday.”
Radebe, who stars for English premier league side Leeds United, said he hopes to lead the Bafana Bafana to the finals on February 13 in Lagos.
Zurich FC striker and top scorer Shaun Bartlett meanwhile said he hoped to score more goals.
Bartlett, who has scored four times in the championship, admitted that the Algerians played well, “but we were able to put them in check after they scored the equaliser”. — AFP
