THE Congress of South African Trade Union (Cosatu) on Friday afternoon said that President Thabo Mbeki’s announcement that three key protective labour laws will be amended to soften their rigidity comes as no surprise to the federation.

Speaking in Cape Town, Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi stressed the federations intentions to “engage vigorously” in discussions with government on an appropriate investment and development strategy for the country.
