FORMER South African Test paceman Tertius Bosch died in a Durban hospital on Sunday after a long illness. He was a month short of his 34th birthday. Bosch played in one test, against West Indies in Bridgetown in 1992, which marked South Africa’s return to the test arena after the dismantling of apartheid. He returned match figures of three for 104. He also played twice for South Africa at the 1992 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Bosch began his first-class career with Northern Transvaal in 1986-87 and played for Natal for four seasons from 1994-95. In 68 first-class matches he took 210 wickets at an average of 27,56, with a best analysis of seven for 75. Bosch leaves a wife, Karen, and two sons.
