TROUSSIER MAY BE NEXT MOROCCAN COACH

FOEMER Bafana Bafana coach Philippe Troussier, John Toshak and Artur George are among candidates to replace Moroccan soccer coach Henri Michel, who quit after what he described as a media smear campaign. State-run radio said Morocco’s FRMF soccer governing body has set up a six-member committee to study “profiles of various coaches” to replace Frenchman Michel. Michel resigned after Morocco’s poor showing in the African Nations Cup in which they failed to score more than one goal in the three-match first round. The radio gave no names of potential candidates to replace Michel but a senior FRMF official said they include Frenchman Troussier, Italian Nevio Scala, Welshman Toshak, and Portugal’s George. Troussier, former coach of Nigeria, South Africa, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, has had experience in Morocco with the local first division soccer team Rabat’s FUS in 1996.
