PALLADIUM surged into European trade on Monday to set a new all-time high, reinvigorated by views Russia must first come up with promised supplies before tightness in the metal used to clean car exhaust would abate. Palladium hit $755 an ounce in thin early dealings, having driven to a series of all-time highs this month as rising demand for new cars has sent car makers scrambling to buy up supplies made scarce by haphazard exports from the world’s largest producer. The price had tumbled on Friday to $670 after Russian Finance Minister Michail Kasyanov said the country would sort out export problems swiftly and bring them back to normal.
