India 75/5 at stumps

INDIA are 75/5 at stumps of the second day of the first Test against India at the Wankhele Stadium after a day which saw 15 wickets go down.

South Africa were bundled out for 176 runs, but bounced back to decimate the Indian batting with some fine bowling.

India have a lead of 124 runs, with only five wickets of a steadily eroding batting line-up in hand.

The men at the crease are Rahul Dravid (27) and Anil Kumble (0) and they will face the fresh South African seamers on Saturday morning, something they will not be looking forward to.

The last Indian wicket to fall was that of Ajay Jadeja, caught by Mark Boucher for one run off the bowling of Allan Donald.

Saurav Ganguly, the fourth Indian wicjet to fall, was caught by Lance Klusener in the slips off the bowling of Shaun Pollock for 31 runs.

Before Ganguly’s departure, Hansie Cronje claimed the vital wicket of Indian skipper Sachin Tendulkar, trapping him leg-before wicket for eight runs.

India have a lead of 122 runs and have six wickets in hand.

Wasim Jaffer was sent back to the dressing-room after being caught by Lance Klusener in the slips off the bowling of Pollock for six runs.

The first Indian wicket to fall was that of Venkata Laxman who was dismissed by Donald without scoring.
