NEW Zambia coach George Mungwa has wielded the axe as he prepares for a Castle Cup Southern Africa championship clash with Botswana next month. The successor to Ben Bamfuchile included only seven of the 22-man squad that was eliminated after the first round of the African Nations Cup in Nigeria this month. Defenders Laughter Chilembi, Chintu Kampamba, Manesse Mwanza, Jones Mwewa and Elijah Tana, midfielder Arthur Lungu and striker Roatson Kilambe have been retained as Chipolopolo (Copper Bullets) rebuild. Among the newcomers is striker Shy Kumwenda, a surprise omission from the Nations Cup after his goals helped unfashionable Zamsure finish second in the national championship. Zambia play Lesotho on March 1 and Malawi on March 4 at the Independence Stadium in Lusaka before facing Botswana at the same venue on March 25 in a competition they have won twice.
