JAPAN SUPPLIES SHEETING TO ANGOLA

ANGOLA is to receive 937500 zinc roofing sheets from Japan under an agreement signed in Luanda over the weekend. Angolan deputy minister in the ministry of assistance and social reinsertion Junior Joao said the zinc plates are intended for phased construction of 24000 houses for refugees. In the first phase, which started in January 1999, 8000 houses were built in the outskirts of Luanda. Japan also channelled over 70 tons of rice to Angola in 1999.
