HANEKOM GETS AMNESTY

FORMER Agriculture Minister Derick Hanekom and his wife, Patricia, were granted amnesty by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) for supplying classified information and arms to the African National Congress during the liberation struggle. The commission’s amnesty committee said in a statement on Friday that the Hanekoms were granted amnesty for passing on classified information to the ANC in 1983, attending illegal gatherings, provision of military hardware and passing on material to the members of the ANC units from 1988 to 1990.
