RESERVE Bank governor Tito Mboweni earlier in the week said he is concerned that there is a worrying lack of current information available from Statistics South Africa. Business Report reports that, speaking at the first meeting of the Monetary Policy Forum on Monday, Mboweni expressed concern at the lack of up-to-date information about the level of employment and measurement of the new economy. Mboweni said that the Reserve Bank is putting together models, which require accurate data, for the implementation of inflation targets announced last month by Finance Minister Trevor Manuel.
