ZIM CRISIS THREATENS SA ECONOMY

ECONOMISTS have warned that political stability in Zimbabwe is vital for South African businesses. Zimbabwe is South Africa’s largest trading partner in the region. The Star quotes economist Majakathtata Mokoena saying it is crucial for the South African government to help resolve the crisis before it spirals out of control.”We can’t afford instability in that country,” he said. “If the situation worsens refugees will flock into our country.” But presidential spokesperson Parks Mankahlana says South Africa will not intervene in Zimbabwe. “We believe Zimbabe is capable of dealing with its affairs without the interference of foreigners,” he said.
