DEPT TO PROBE ET CLAIMS

THE Department of Correctional Services says it will investigate allegations that AWB leader Eugene TerreBlanche received preferential treatment while at Potchefstroom Prison. Terre’Blanche has been moved to a communal cell at Rooigrond in Mafikeng following the allegations. The right-wing leader spent only one night in Potchefstroom Prison when he was jailed on March 30. He was then taken to hospital after falling ill. TerreBlanche was the only white amongst 38 black inmates. He is serving a one-year prison sentence for assaulting petrol attendant John Ndzima. TerreBlanche is currently appealing a six-year sentence for the attempted murder of Paul Motshabi in 1996.
