NEDERBURG WINES SALES HIT NEW RECORD

NEDERBURG said sales from its annual wine auction have risen 5,8% to a new record of R5,8-million. A statement that 86% of the buyers are South African, 6% Namibian and 9% are other foreign buyers. The top six supermarkets and liquor retailers bought 33% of the wine, with Spar supermarkets buying the most. The highest increase in price was in red wines, which went up 31% to R1146 for a nine litre case, while white wine sales increased 10,5% to R640 for a nine litre case.
