TEENAGER STEALS ANOTHER PLANE

A TEENAGER has stolen and flown a two-seater aeroplane just six weeks after he was arrested for stealing another plane. Police said on Wednesday that the boy, 16, convinced a security guard to let him onto the Witbank airfield in Mpumalanga and eventually asked for the keys to the duty room so he could use the two-way radio to contact a person he was supposedly expecting. “That is where he got hold of the keys of a two-seater plane,” said Mokomene. The boy got into the plane and flew it for two hours before landing in a field near a coal mine. The police were waiting for him on the ground. “Police received information about the stolen flight and had been watching him,” Mokomene explained. The boy has been charged with theft and will appear in court soon. He is also due to appear in the Middelburg District Court on May 8 after he allegedly broke into a vehicle and stole keys for a light aircraft, which he flew for half an hour on February 29.
