Dynamos boss quits

OWN CORRESPONDENT, Cape Town | Wednesday 1.15pm.

DYNAMOS chairman Peter Rabali has quit amid allegations of match-fixing in the MTN First Division, but has challenged City Sharks to prove that he rigged a match between the two clubs last Friday.

Rabali admitted to having a conversation before the match with Sharks’ chairman Nicolas Sibeko and Kenneth Mtshali, but said that only a part of the conversation, which was taped, was played to PSL officials.

He also denied ever giving money to Sharks in return for rigging a result. Rabali told the Sowetan that “they asked me certain questions and I answered, unaware that one of them was recording our conversation.”

Rabali said that the voive on the tape is his, but that “only a portion” of the conversation was played. “Whatever I said was manipulated and completely quoted out of context,” he added.

Rabali has meanwhile sought legal advice and has requested a full copy of the tape from the PSL.

Maxon Mananga has been appointed as acting chairman of Dynamos.

Meanwhile, the PSL match commissioner at the match which was allegedly fixed was PSL secretary Bafana Dlamini, who said that nothing irregular was reported to him before, during or after the fixture.
