STEPHEN Carr, South Africa’s 1999 prospect of the year, headlines the bill at the Carousel on Wednesday night in his last bout to be held locally this year. Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves promotions announced that Carr will be fighting his next three bouts in the UK and the USA. “Carr is a tremendously talented fighter and we believe he has the ability to win a world title,” says Berman. Carr’s opponent in this first fight on the road to world honours is American Dillon Coolly, who has a record of 12 wins, five losses with nine knockouts. Although Carr’s record only stands on six wins, one loss with four knockouts, he has had over 260 bouts as an amateur and fights like a seasoned professional. His single loss came at the hands of former IBF lightweight world champion Phillip Holiday, who also now fights at welterweight.
