BARLOW TO BE FLOWN TO SINGAPORE

BANGLADESH cricket coach Eddie Barlow, who suffered a brain haemorrhage at the weekend, will be flown to Singapore for an examination, his wife said on Tuesday. A doctor at the Combined Military Hospital where Barlow is being treated said the South African’s condition was stable. “The Bangladesh Cricket Board is sending my husband to Singapore for a further check up. He will then be flown home (to Cape Town) as desired by him,” Cally Barlow said. She said her husband could speak but his left side is paralysed. Barlow collapsed at his home on Saturday evening and was rushed to hospital. The 59-year-old was appointed as Bangladesh’s national coach last year, replacing West Indies former opener Gordon Greenidge. Barlow played 30 tests for South Africa during the 1960s, scoring 2,516 runs at an average of 45.74. He took 40 wickets at 34.05 with his medium-pace bowling. He spent three seasons in English county cricket with Derbyshire from 1976.
