ZIM WILL HURT INVESTMENT – DAIMLERCHRYSLER

THE violent struggle in Zimbabwe to seize white-owned farm land will have a ”strong effect” on investments, the chief executive of DaimlerChrysler, Juergen Schrempp, warned on Thursday in Berlin. Referring specifically to Zimbabwe while opening a conference on private investments for Southern Africa, Schrempp said: ”The conditions for investments in any country are political and economical stability, respect for private property and the rule of law. ”What is happening in Zimbabwe will have a strong impact on investment, and this is a pity,” he said. His remarks were greeted with applause from the some 700 participants.
