UGANDA GETS MAJOR DEBT RELIEF

THE International Monetary Fund and the World Bank have announced that Uganda has qualified for $1,3-billion dollar in debt relief. The amount includes interest due on $660-million, or about two-fifths of Uganda’s total international debt. The announcement Tuesday brings Uganda’s total debt relief to $2-billion, supplementing relief already granted under an earlier version of the IMF and World Bank’s debt relief initiative.
