THE Mozambican woman who gave birth in a tree during the February floods left for the United States on Tuesday to raise funds for her baby. Mozambican ambassador to the US, Marcos Namashulua said a fund-raising campaign had been arranged in New York for Sofia Pedro Chijivuri and her baby, Rosita. The event is being arranged by American universities and hospitals that watched Chijivuri’s ordeal on television. During her stay in the US, Chijivuri is expected to give interviews to various news organisations. Namashulua said many Americans were eager to ensure that baby Rosita’s financial and academic needs were met.
