AMBASSADOR HONORED BY DUTCH QUEEN

FORMER anti-apartheid activist Carl Niehaus, who has served as South Africa’s ambassador to the Netherlands for the past three years, has been bestowed with the Grand Cross in the Order of Oranje Nassau, by Queen Beatrix. She bestowed the decoration of honour for distinguished services to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The order, only given to selected ambassadors, is the highest that can be bestowed to representatives of foreign countries.
