ZIM BEAT IRELAND AGAIN

ZIMBABWE recovered from a disastrous start to cruise home by five wickets against Ireland on Thursday. It was their second limited overs win in two days against an Irish team bolstered by guest plauer Mark Waugh. Seamer Paul Mooney ripped out Trevor Gripper, Andy and Grant Flower and Paul Strang to leave Zimbabwe reeling at 30 for four in the chase for only 122 to win. A 67-run fifth wicket partnership between opener Dirk Viljoen and Heath Streak staved off the prospect of a shock defeat. Viljoen was eventually dismissed for 55 but Streak, more renowned for his bowling skills, steered his country home with an undefeated 37. Mooney finished with four for 24 from his 10-over stint. Australian Waugh made only 17 but he was one of only three players in the Irish team to reach double figures. Streak dismissed Waugh to leave Ireland on 82 for three and the innings quickly subsided despite a patient 65 from opener Kyle McCallan.
