SAFAIR GRABS R200-M AIRCRAFT DEAL

SAFAIR, the aviation leasing division of Imperial Holdings, announced three transactions worth more than R200-million, involving four passenger jets and a cargo aircraft.

THE company has leased two McDonnell-Douglas MD81 jet airliners to Spirit Airlines, a US passenger carrier, for a period of eight years.

In another deal, Safair purchased two additional ex-Austrian Airlines McDonnell-Douglas MD82’s. These aircraft have been leased to Air Libert of France, which already leases and operates two Safair MD82 aircraft.

The company is also in the process of completing a lease of a Hercules cargo aircraft together with crew and maintenance support to Federal Express (Fedex) in Europe.

Recently Safair also acquired all 13 SAA Boeing 737-200sAdvanced aircraft for R500-million in a purchase and leaseback deal.
