OIL MAJOR ExxonMobil has reached its normal crude oil output level of 500000 barrels per day (bpd) at its unrest-hit export terminal and associated fields in southern Nigeria. ”We have full production now,” a senior official said in Lagos. Operations at the terminal were shut down briefly earlier in the week after a communal protest in the area. The Qua Iboe terminal handles about 500000 bpd of crude and 100000 bpd of condensate. ExxonMobil, Nigeria’s second largest crude oil producer after Royal Dutch/Shell, is currently expanding the terminal ahead of plans to raise output to about 900000 bpd in the next two years. Foreign companies operating in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region are frequently target of restive communities demanding a greater share of the oil wealth produced from their backyard. – Reuters
