LIGHT snow fell on Table Mountain on Wednesday night, a representative of the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company said on Thursday.
The company’s operations supervisor, Sedick Sabra, said a light dusting of snow was still on the mountain top early on Thursday, but was rapidly melting.
The last time snow fell on Table Mountain was four years ago.
The Boland mountains also experienced snowfalls, with a light covering on the Skurweberge and Hex River mountains.
The Weather Bureau issued a warning that very rough seas can be expected between Cape Agulhas and East London, moderating from the west.
A second warning said very cold conditions are expected over the little Karoo, south-eastern part of Northern Cape, southern Free-State, Eastern Cape with snowfalls over the Eastern Cape high ground.
