FOUR CHARGED WITH KEEPING TEEN SEX SLAVE

A SOLDIER, airman and two policemen appeared in the Hoedspruit Periodical Court in Northern Province in connection with keeping a teenager as a sex slave for six months. Corporal Benzion Polonksky (27) of the Hoedspruit army base, Corporal Carl Joubert (26) of Hoedspruit air base and Constables Cornelius Lourens (25) and Nicholas Wolmarans (26) of Hoedspruit police station were not asked to plead on rape charges. They are accused of making a 16-year-old girl watch pornographic videos between February and August and having sex with her at a house in Drakensig, a residential area for soldiers. They are to appear in court again on October 26. The girl allegedly moved in with the men after running away from her mother and stepfather. The girl is staying at a temporary place of safety at Tzaneen. Constables Lourens and Wolmarans have not been suspended from work but have been transferred from Hoedspruit police station to Namakgale and Lulekani police stations respectively.- African Eye News Service
