NAMIBIAN POLICE, ANGOLAN ARMY CLASH

NAMIBIAN police in hot pursuit of abducted women crossed over the border into Angola, where they clashed with Angolan army soldiers, killing one of them. The police were seeking to rescue three Namibian women allegedly abducted by Unita rebels over the weekend, but found them held at an Angolan army border camp. A Namibian policeman from its elite Task Force Unit was wounded in the exchange of fire, a policeman said. The women escaped during the melee. – AFP
