JUDGMENT has been reserved in the appeal of rightwing leader Eugene Terre’blanche against his conviction on a charge of attempting to murder farm worker Paul Mothabe in March 1996. The appeal was limited to the question whether he should instead have been convicted on a charge of serious assault. Adv Nico van der Walt, for Terre’blanche, argued that the State failed to prove his client had an intention to kill Mothabe, and that his conviction should therefore be converted to the lesser charge.
