DEATH BUS DRIVER SENT TO JAIL

THE driver of the tour bus which crashed in Mpumalanga in 1999, killing 27 British tourists and a South African tour guide, has been sentenced to six years in prison for culpable homicide. He was released on bail of R500 pending an appeal. Titus Phillip Dube, 41, told the Lydenburg Regional Court that he had accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake while descending the scenic Long Tom pass. – AFP
