MOZAMBIQUES top tourism official on Monday accused several South African tourist companies of racism, and said the government had moved to discipline them. “We are fighting against all kinds of racism because our tourist resources are public and not private assets,” said national tourism director Antonio Saia. Allegations of racist practices by some South African tourist companies were raised recently at public consultation meetings in southern Mozambique. Saia said the most flagrant examples of racism were notices at resorts in Gaza province, which read – No entry for Mozambican children. “We are taking swift action against behaviours like these, and as I am speaking inspectors are being deployed in the field and those racist notices have been removed,” he said. – AFP
