NORTHERN Province Premier Ngoako Ramatlhodi is taking legal action against Democratic Alliance (DA) co-leader, Michael Holford, who accused him of not declaring his assets. Ramatlhodi said at a press conference on Monday that Holford did not attempt to verify facts before accusing him of corruption and misconduct. Holford accused Ramatlhodi in the weekend press of owning a R7-million mansion in Pietersburg without declaring it in terms of the Executive Members Ethics Act of 1998. Holford also wrote a letter of complaint to public protector Selby Baqwa that said the Premier had bought and sold a number of houses and a farm without declaring them. Said Ramatlhodi: “Given the mischievous nature of the campaign I have decided to take legal action against the member. I will take the necessary steps to defend my good name and integrity.” He said his Pietersburg house cost R1-million and that he would make public all his private documents concerning the property.
