SWAZILAND has again advertised the post of a hangman, after applicants from Botswana, South Africa and Swaziland were found to be unsuitable, The Star reports. There are now 14 prisoners on death row, of whom four had their sentences approved by the court of appeal and the Committee on the Prerogative for Mercy. The post must now be filled, thought to be in anticipation of the outcome of the court case of suspected serial killer David Simelane, who has been charged with 34 counts of murder. The last hangings took place in 1982 and 1984. Two South Africans are on death row in Swaziland for two separate murders. They are Bongani Mkhwanazi and Sipho Gumbi, alias Sipho Nkosi, both of Durban.
