IFAT Madar, the Israeli tourist who disappeared on 21 July while climbing the Chimanimani Mountains, has been found safe and alive. She was spotted by Mozambican officials on Thursday morning on the Mozambican side of Kweza Peak, the mountain range she was climbing when she went missing. Madar(22) strayed into Mozambique and miraculously survived near-freezing temperatures up in the Chimanimani Mountains. She said she survived on a 100-gram bar of chocolate, a naartjie and water for almost two weeks. “It is good to be back,” a relieved Madar told staff at the Outward Bound Centre in Chimanimani yesterday. The centre, 10km from Kweza Peak, served as the springboard for the search. Guy Gary, the director of Outward Bound, was the first to admit that all hope of finding Madar alive had all but faded. “All these days we were actually looking for a body,” he said. Madar is expected to fly back to Israel with her father shortly. – The Daily News
