SERIAL WIFE ARRESTED FOR FORNICATION, FRAUD

A 32-YEAR-old Egyptian woman, Sabah Abdel Kader, has been arrested for being married to five men at the same time, and faces charges of ”fornication and fraud,” a newspaper reported Tuesday. Under Egyptian and Islamic law, a man can marry up to four women, but a woman is permitted no more than one husband. Abdel Kader first married in 1987 to a carpenter in Cairo and they had four children, but eight years later she ran away to southern Egypt where she tied the knot with an Aswan man, without filing for divorce, Al-Ahram daily said. After launching an enquiry, the authorities found she had also married three other men, two of them in the Qanater region in the northern Nile Delta, and had recently given birth to a child with her latest husband, the paper said. – AFP
