‘BAKKIE KILLING’ CASE IN COURT

THE Sasolburg man accused of killing his employee and dragging the body behind a bakkie through town, will appear in the Bloemfontein High Court on Monday. The trial of Piet Odendaal, who was granted bail of R10 000 in November last year, is expected to last a week. The case was initially heard in Sasolburg but had to be moved to the Bloemfontein High Court following violent protests by community members outside the court. Odendaal’s lawyer previously told the court that his client did not remember killing John Rampuru on August 25. He said Odendaal’s mixing of alcohol with medication, following an argument with his wife, could have led to loss of memory. – Sapa
