Sponsor’s Message

The stage is set. It’s now up to the artists to showcase their talent.

Since its inception, the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz circuit has showcased some of the world’s greatest artists, while developing young talent. The Johannesburg Joy of Jazz International Festival 2001 is no exception.

This leg of our successful circuit has been a forum where local and international performers have shared the stage and ideas. It has also unearthed and nurtured some of the country’s creative talent.

The festival has created hundreds of formal and informal jobs in the industry.

As a bank that cares about our heritage, this festival will also celebrate South African Music Week, which aims to profile the contribution of our artists.

Thanks to everyone who supports our efforts to develop and preserve our local talent.

Amasi abekw’elangeni!

Promoter’s messge

The motto of this year’s Standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival is Alishoni Lingenandaba Ejozi (The Sun Never Sets without News in Jo’burg).

As the organiser of this popular event, I am excited to offer Johannesburg and its people the year’s biggest musical gathering and to feature so many outstanding local and international artists in the heart of our great city.

We would also like to use this opportunity to make people aware that Aids is a serious killer disease. Please fight it with everything in your power.
