MINISTERIAL labour representative Eddie Jayiya died on Thursday night, the Department of Labour said in Pretoria. It said the circumstances of death were still being investigated but initial reports indicated that he was shot dead around 9.30pm. Jayiya (44) was apparently on his way to the Tshepo Themba hospital in Dobsonville, Soweto. He was appointed representative for Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana about three months ago. Before that he worked for The Star in Johannesburg. ”Jayiya’s assertive, humorous personality made him a joy to work with and his tragic death has left a sad vacuum,” the department said in a statement. – Sapa
