AN international health body has turned to a new medium, public transport buses, to try to reach out to millions of Kenyans in the fight against the deadly HIV/Aids. The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) on Monday distributed thousands of posters and stickers to Kenya’s public commuter buses in this Indian Ocean port city for display in the vehicles. “We realise public transport vehicles are a viable media in spreading the anti-Aids message – to target the youth who use them daily,” said Mark Hawken, the IPPF project manager. Already, one million Kenyans are estimated to have died of AIDS-related illnesses and a similar number of children orphaned by the disease. – AFP
